![]() Unlike in Bloodline Champions, where playable characters were labeled with more generic titles like “Reaver” and “Harbinger,” each playable character in Battlerite has a unique name and personality, and several of Battlerite’s characters are taken straight out of Bloodline Champions.įor example, there’s the spear-wielding Shifu ( Bloodline’s Spear Master), the pyromancer Ashka ( Bloodline’s Igniter), and the sword-and-board tank character Bakko ( Bloodline’s Vanguard). While Battlerite’s roster obviously isn’t as expansive as Bloodline Champions’ (the game is still pretty new after all), Stunlock made sure to populate its Early Access build with a selection of both old favorites and new combatants. Here’s what I thought of my time spent in Battlerite’s Early Access build. As someone who enjoyed Bloodline Champions way back in the day, I just had to try out Battlerite for myself, and while the game has its share of Early Access bumps and scrapes, it is already shaping up to be a worthy successor to Stunlock’s vision. Battlerite takes many of the gameplay systems and aesthetic elements of its predecessor and refines them into an experience which feels both familiar and fresh, offering players a number of different competitive options to partake in. While the studio’s new title Battlerite, which is now available now via Steam Early Access, is technically an entirely separate game, it also serves as a spiritual successor to Bloodline Champions. ![]() However, as the years went by, Stunlock realized that, if it wanted to fully realize its vision for what it wanted Bloodline Champions to be, it would have to go back to the drawing board. The game, which never really managed to find a permanent place in the public gaming eye, became a cult hit for many people who wound up playing it, if for no other reason than the fact that it combined elements from several other game genres (MOBA, real-time strategy, MMO, and first-person shooter to name a few) into a unique experience which was both accessible to newcomers and complex enough that hardcore competitors had plenty to sink their teeth into. With overwhelming positive reviews on Steam, many players have attributed the success of Battlerite to its balanced, skill based and adrenaline pumping combat.
